Francesca Millican-Slater
- Peformance Artist and Dr of Mannequin TherapyMedia Gallery
About me
I am an artist working in performance and live art that is interested in the collecting of words, objects and stories. My work centres around stories that are small, familiar and resonant. The material begins with my obsessions; postcards, histories, lost & last words, cities, trains and currency mannequins.
Blurbs
Those Little Words
Those Little Words was born from a want to animate the inanimate by the way that I responded to, moved around and talked to a mannequin. It became a performance about love, clichés and all Those Little Words we can never get quite right while complicating ourselves in relationships. See my media gallery for a slideshow...
Following the successful performance at The Camden People’s Theatre on March 14th, Those Little Words will now be performed as part of I am Still Your Worst Nightmare at The Arnolfini, Bristol on the weekend of April 26th/27th...more info following soon.
I Love You Just The Way You Are
I Love You Just The Way you is an intimate storytelling performance that lasts just under fifteen minutes. The audience are invited to gather around a map of London as I rebuild the city in miniature according to memory, experience, inexperience and observations. It is the story of how London promised me out of suburbia and what I found when I got there. It is also hints at the little stories; the tiny ticks that developed when I tried to become a fully fledged Londoner, how Londoners travel, how Londoners don't travel and the strange yet familiar sights that make London what it is.

Fran! Let me just say, once again, that you were bloody brilliant on Sunday. Everyone was raving about mannequins by the end. And, for the record, I would still love you if you had no eyes...
Lovely to see you and Pips, too. Hugs, Em x x x x
