My name's Olly Mardling and I'm an aspiring Director... I'm also the Founder of this site... but this is my personal profile, and I want WhatTalent to help me develop my film-making skills and introduce me to people who can help me acheive my fervant ambition to write, direct and produce my own feature-film...

20 Years of Hurt
I've been playing Guitar for 20 years... yet have hardly improved. I've been trying to master Stairway for 15 of those years and it still sounds like the worst busker you've ever heard... Jimmy Page has NOTHING to worry about!
Still I love playing and try to write the odd song... ("odd" being the operative word most of the time)... and if I've had enough beer I'll even get it (the guitar) out at a party... Check out my Media Gallery for some videos of me playing and singing!
I want to make films
I have experience of working in both television production and post as a runner and researcher, but it has been in my spare time that I have developed basic film-making skills. I bought myself (well Mum and Dad loaned me the money to buy) a Sony Handicam about 3 years ago and started taking with me everywhere... My best mate Tom was in band called Mohair and I used to jump in the van with them and tour the country getting drunk and filming their gigs...
Back in the day...
I haven't done anything for years, but back in the day I used to be a bit of a performer... with a particular focus on musical theatre and opera... but also did a bit of telly like Grange Hill and a dodgy early 90's ITV soft-porn drama about a female football coach called The Manageress... (For you "Fact Fans" out there: it starred Cheri Lunghi, the chick from the equally soft-porn and incredibly smug Nescafe ads from the 80's....). I was a "second fan's son"... Never DID find out why I wasn't nominated for that BAFTA....

OK, this hasn't really got anything to do with creative talent, but if you want to see something very sweet then search youtube for "Christian the lion" and enjoy! I can't put it on your page coz I'm at work - BOO!.
And, if you want to see something a bit sick, look for "snake eats hippo".
I know, I have too much time on my hands....

Blud! As you've probably heard, Amy Lingwood (oops, I mean Jollic) had a baby boy last week and so we had John and Kath camping out at our gaff in between visiting hours at the hospital, and Kath was talking to me about wanting to get set up on WT.com for all her kilts and other hand-made finery. Anyway, I gave her your number so the ball's in her court!
Just thought I'd keep you in the loop, old man.

I am getting the distinct impression that you don't give a tinker's toot about your present.

P.S. I don't suppose you would be able to spare an hour or so to check out our crazy computer at some point, would you? It's driving Mummio insania. And we girls know nought about techy stuff.

Yeah man - the job's all good. It's a real nice set up there too; old building, modern interior....and table football!! The inter-company cup competition starts next week and I'm feeling (quietly) confident of not bumming out in the first round... I used to have one when I was a yoot ;)
It's a pretty long day, but that's ok. The main/only horrible part is Capital Radio, one of the stations I have to monitor. Johnny and Denise's crap, repetative, annoying, mind numbing, dumb-ass banter goes on and on and on. My worst nightmare used to be me, stuck on a desert island with only brussel sprouts to eat. Now, it's stuck on a desert island with a radio that only picks up Capital and those two clowns.
I'll cry more over a beer. I'll give you a shout soon youth. Take care man..

Hey mate... I'm ok apart from the fact that right now, I should be in Ibiza - my gig got cancelled...and DC10 closed! Disaster! They paid my flight thank fuc. I'm babbling.
The track name and artist names are correct ole bean - I can't wait to see/hear the film when it's finished. Gimme a shout soon when you're having a beer. I reckon we should all get together when the film is done for a small but significant celebration...

Alright, alright, keep your knickers on. I'm just voicing the anticipation of the entire WhatTalent community and keeping the hype at fever pitch, you know!
