About me

I'm Tom. I guess I'm a singer first, a songwriter second, a guitar player third, a ukulele player fourth, a music teacher fifth, a film maker / documenteur sixth and a graphic designer seventh... anything else? not for now...

Music is my life and my world.
I've been in bands since I was 11 and on stage since I was 6. I grew up singing folk songs around various campfires and dinner table around the country. It is here that I learnt my craft and here where I will always feel most at home.

I was in a band called Mohair for 10 years with my best friends in the world. We put the project to bed at the beginning of this year due to musical similarities having achieved everything but fame and fortune.

Now I'm a gun for hire, popping from project to project, band to band, song to song, album to album and gig to gig.

Right now I am teaching singing, ukulele and guitar, playing the role of Roger Daltry in the country's biggest Tribute act to The Who - , writing and MDing a musical for the Chicken Shed Theatre Company called SeaChange, producing an album of campfire classics with my family and other animals, playing Americana music with my new favourite band The Canyoneros and looking at recording a record with them... all this amongst many other things... I've never been so busy... but then, if you want something done, give it to a busy man.

You called me. I missed your call. I forgot to call you back. Then I remembered. Now I'm at work and can't call you back.

What did thee want of me? x

erm... re. below. I meant Kid Rock, as opposed to Chris Rock, the comedian. Clutz.

Tom... I've been meaning to ask you for the last couple of weeks if your splendid band ever do a cover of Lynyrd Skynyrd - Sweet Home Alabama? One of the radio stations I have to monitor in my job is Virgin, and I heard it a couple of weeks back and thought of you guys. I reckon you'd do a top job on it.
Chris Rock has used a (large) sample of it in his new track (debatable whether it is good or not), but I'd love to hear you guys play it too! Hope ya well youth..

Tom
Spoke to Mark, the guy I'm writing the tv show for, and have thrown your musical hat in the ring. Its a little early, but when the time comes he's keen to meet up and discuss what he is after. Will keep you posted.

Tom, I have a vague memory, from Sunday, of Tamborine Bill saying he had a DVD of Los Canyoneros for me. Then he disappeared into the night and I'm left wondering whether I was mad, or drunk, or both? Can you shed any light on this problem? Em X

Your "about me" bit sounds a lot like David Brent - "I would say I was a friend first and a boss second......probably an entertainer third."

Yo yo yo! Sorry missed the end of the gig yesterday. Loved what I heard though. The Canyoneros version of Ohio is smashing ol' boy and my sis loved the impromptu Stanley sing-along. Good way to end a great weekend...

Nose is now firmly back to the grindstone, but the stack of music you left is keeping me happy! Appreciate it mate. Ill get everyhting back to you with camera as soon in a couple of days.
